Chief Minister Raje has had an eventful week. After kick starting the month with a conference where all the Collectors and SPs were called to Jaipur and asked to work in tandem with the vision of the Government, Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje headed to the capital for a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss the drought situation in the State. The meeting proved quite fruitful as the Centre released Rs 911.64 crore for the state under the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF), after adjustments of the state balances.

The Chief Minister of Rajasthan informed the Prime minister about the scarcity of water in the state. Highlighting how Rajasthan has unceasingly braved a long battle with drought, she pointed that Rajasthan has faced drought for 61 out in the last 67 years. She further said people across the state are facing acute shortage of water. She said that the state has taken initiative and launched Mukhyamantri Jal Swavlamban Abhiyan under which 7 lakh water conservation structures will come up in four years, including 1 lakh by June 30, 2016. Suggesting ways to fight scarcity of water, Modi emphasized on necessity of mass movement for water conservation, fuelled by youths of the state. Raje also cited the successful example of Bawdi revival in Kuchaman City, in Nagore district, and shared plans of taking it up on a large scale.

Another highlight this week was CM Raje’s visit to Dahod, Gujarat for the launch of phase II of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. BJP National President Amit Shah, Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Dharmendra Pradhan, Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel Madhya Pradesh counterpart Shivraj Singh Chouhan were also present at the Mega launch and they all hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his good governance and delivery of services till the last mile.

In her speech, Chief Minister Raje fondly remembered Raghunathi who she had met while she was touring Sawai Madhopur under Rajasthan government’s Sarkaar Aapke Dwaar Programme. She recalled how lovingly Raghunathi had offered to share her meal with the Chief Minister and how she had sat down in her kitchen, right next to the smoke yielding chulha, eating the staple bajra roti and chutney. The Chief Minister of Rajasthan Vasundhara Raje returned the favor at the launch of PMUY by Raje then instructed the officials to provide the Gurjar household with an LPG connection. She also spoke to Raghunathi on phone and congratulated her on recieving the new gas connection. CM Raje even tweeted how the scheme will impact and empower millions of women not just in Rajasthan but also across the country.
