Narendra Modi arrives in time for the CEC meeting

A day after the BJP’s Central Election Committee (CEC) held a meeting to freeze its candidates for Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand Assembly elections 2017, the party released a list of candidates for the two states on Tuesday.

The party held it’s first meeting on 11th January to announce candidates for Goa and Punjab polls. To finalise the candidacy of people from other states, another meeting is likely to be held on Tuesday.

The seven-phase UP assembly polls is slated to commence from 11 February.Union minister JP Nadda released the list carrying names of 64 candidates for the upcoming election in Uttarakhand and a list of 149 candidates for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly election.

Union Minister JP Nadda released the list of candidates. He also informed that people from all walks of life have been selected.

In Uttar Pradesh, which has a 403-member House, polls will be held in a divided format: On 11 February (73 constituencies), 15 February (67 constituencies), 19 February (69), 23 February (53), 27 February (52), 4 March (49) and 8 March (40).

Shah has been pulling out all stops to lead the party to victory in UP, which in terms of political implications is more important than all other four poll-bound states combined.

Although, since 2002, BJP has been acting submissive in Uttar Pradesh. However, the party was only under-empowered until Modi shot to an unprecedented success in 2014 Lok Sabha polls. A win of 71 of the 80 seats is indeed formidable. It also reflects the potency and trust which Indians pose in the Centre ruling party.

With other parties like Samajvadi and Congress resorting to form alliance, to overcome the fear of failure, BJP looks as a perfect contender. And why not? It accomplishes all the promises and in least funds. This is what their approach has been in the recent past. And we are all praises.
