Amritsar-Jamnagar 6 lane highway connects five districts of Rajasthan.

On Wednesday, Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje met Union Minister Nitin Gadkari to hold discussions for highway infrastructure, water, and irrigation projects in Rajasthan. Reportedly, the discussions held at the meeting involve projects worth INR 10,000 Crores.

Road Infrastructure

In the meeting, CM Raje urged for a release of INR 2,823 Crores for road projects that have been approved this year. She also urged the Centre for sanction of INR 7,000 Crore for road infrastructure expansion in Rajasthan. The road projects also include extending State Highway-12 road (on Jaipur-Faagi-Maalpura-Kekdi-Shahppura-Maandal-Bhilwada) to 4-lane.

National Highways

The highway projects discussed in the meet include construction of national highways at Kherwara, Sagwara, Banswara, and Dungarpur stretch. In addition, Raje demanded an extension of National Highway status for the Suratgarhg-Rawatsar-Nohar-Bhadra-Hissar route. Owing to the NH status, additional funds will be provided by the Centre for development of these roads.

Besides, the discussion also included the Setu Bharatam government program. Under this, CM Raje insisted for approval of constructing railway over-bridge on national highways. She also discussed the pending projects under the National highway phase-II as well as the allocation of funds agreed under the National Road Fund.

Water and Irrigation Projects

Apart from highways, roads and similar projects, detailed discussions were carried out on various topics like water and irrigation. During this meet, dignitaries like Union Minister of State Arjun Ram Meghwal, Mr C.R Chaudhary, Rajasthan Road Transport Minister Yunus Khan, Irrigation Minister Dr Rampratap and senior officers of the state were also present.

Other Issues

CM Raje is currently on a 3-day tour to New Delhi. After meeting Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, she also met Finance Minister Arun Jaitley to urge for a relief on marble, granite and tile industry. In another meeting with Union State Minister for Tourism K.J Alphons, the two ministers held noteworthy discussions about Rajasthan tourism and further development.
