This Diwali will bring great joy to Government officials of Rajasthan state. Recently, Chief Minister Smt. Vasundhara Raje announced 3 percent hike in the Dearness Allowance (DA) of the government employees. She also announced gift for the employees. The gift was offered to the state employees in the form of adhoc bonus for Diwali.

This recently announced DA hike and Diwali bonus would be applicable for the work-charge employees, employees of the Panchayat Samitis and Zila Parishads too.

Let’s know more about these increments in bonus and DA.

Dearness Allowance
At present, the state government employees are given DA at the rate of 136% of the basic salary. When the hike of 3% is implemented then it will become 139%.

The increase in DA would be effective from July 1, 2017. The arrears on account of the increased DA from July 1, 2017 to September 30, 2017 would be credited in the GPF accounts of the employees. For the employees appointed on or after January 1, 2004 the arrears of the hiked DA would be paid in cash.

This hike in DA or DR would cost Rs. 320 crore to the state exchequer additionally during the current financial year.

Diwali Bonus
This Diwali bonus is given to more than six 6 lakh in-service government employees.

As per the government orders, ad hoc bonus will be credited into the account of the employees drawing salary in Rs 4800 grade pay or less. Diwali bonus would be calculated on the basis of paying Rs. 7,000 for 31 days of the month. Thus, any employee would get Rs. 6,774 as ad hoc bonus to the maximum.

This Diwali bonus will create an additional burden of Rs 406 crore on the exchequer.
