Smart City  Jaipur positions itself as the First Cisco Lighthouse City in South Asia. What a triumph, indeed!

A smart city effectively integrates multiple technologies on a single secure platform to manage local departments, information systems, transportation, educational institutes, hospitals, waste management, power plants, water supply, law enforcement and community services.

Having bagged the third prize in the smart city mission, Jaipur became the first Cisco Lighthouse City in South Asia for the year 2016. Infra giant Cisco assigns this special status to a few selected cities all over the world. This accomplishment will open up new opportunities for the Pink City.

Cisco which is involved in piloting the smart city initiatives for a galaxy of cities in the state, has been roped in to steer the Jaipur Lighthouse City project too.

Take a quick peek-a-boo into the roadmap chalked out for Jaipur’s unprecedented digital journey:

First Network Operating Centre in Rajasthan

Rajasthan government has constructed a NOC (Network Operating Centre) at the JDA (Jaipur Development Authority) headquarters to monitor and operate new infrastructure services using a single network. The innovative facility was inaugurated by CM Vasundhara Raje. Cisco CEO John Chambers was present on the occasion.

The NOC will encompass all tech-savvy smart projects like intelligent kiosks, smart streetlights, wireless broadband, smart parking, sensor-based dustbins and the new smart city app. What’s more impressive is the fact that NOC will slot all these facilities under a single network. This will ensure greater efficiency in terms of service delivery.

Jaipur Smart City App

Jaipur Smart City App was created to ensure that users are abreast of all the latest updates and happenings in the city. On this app, viewers can locate tourist hotspots, hottest accommodations, shopping and dining destinations in the city.

This app is as purposeful as it could possibly be. It provides limitless information on government schemes, public auctions, allotments and bookings. Viewers can raise complaints, check its status and evaluate the quality of services offered across the city. Such avenues are on a rise, owing to the digital marketing companies in India.

Centre of Excellence, developed in collaboration with Genpact and Cisco

The global centre of excellence (located in Genpact building at JLN road) will aid the local authorities in achieving digital transformation in the shortest span of time.

Quality training will be provided to the Rajasthan youths at this centre. Genpact, which is an ace in the business processing and Cisco, a world giant in digital technologies will come together to take Jaipur far ahead than Bangalore in Delhi in the digital race.

In a nutshell, the multitude of initiatives are being taken by the government so that Jaipur can take the lead as the pilot confluence of incredible digitalisation and flawless eduction of the country. The government has signed several MoUs with Cisco to seal the fate of multiple projects in the city.

As far as the future is concerned, Jaipur can access Cisco’s global network, thereby availing benefits from the socio-economic transformation. The transformational journey of Rajasthan is sure to take centre’s vision of ‘Digital India’ to another level altogether.
