Under National Food Security Act, the central government permitted a sum of Rs. 80 crore for Rajasthan government for 2016-17. The act reveals that, 75% of the center’s fund will be made available during the beginning of the year. Earlier there was disagreement on this when the state had not provided utilization certificate to the center government. After the state government had provided UC certificate on March 15th, the center released the amount for state’s utilization. Out of the sum of total amount, the state government will use only Rs. 76 crore and the left out will be fitted to next financial year. As per the sources, the ministry is facing lack of funds and that’s why providing funds in installments. They even lacked in the providing 75% funds to the state. They have promised of releasing 25% funds in the next financial year.

The act has the provision that the 75% part of the central assistance will be revealed in the form of first installment during the beginning of the financial year. The remaining balance of 25% will provided in the next year. Although the sanctioned amount is less than the financial assistance marked for the Rajasthan. On March 17th, CR Chaudhary, the union minister for food and public distribution said in Rajya Sabha that his ministry did not provide the financial aid as the state failed to provide the UC for 2013-14 and 2015-16.

No, even after providing the said details, they could give the complete funds. Due to these unexplained ways, the food department is facing several issues leading to less availability of stock. Due to these constrained acts of money, the state is not able to run even the necessary chores related to providing nutritious grains.

Conventionally, the national food security act is an Act of the parliament of India which aims to make available subsidized food grains to approximately two thirds of India’s 1.2 billion people.
