Delhi-Jaipur expressway

Delhi-Jaipur expressways

Relief comes to ardent road travellers as authorities work on highway blueprints, connecting Delhi with tourist hotspots like Jaipur, Amritsar and Katra.

Road connectivity plays a key role in regulating tourism and trade activities across the neighbouring states. Having 228 national highways at present, India is a country worth exploring on roads. Nevertheless, covering the abysmal distance between Delhi-Jaipur (268 km), Jalandhar-Ajmer (785 km) and Delhi-Katra (727 km) was exhausting for riders earlier. To make this trip short and safe, the government may soon announce two green-field expressway projects connecting the aforementioned cities in a consolidated tourism circuit. This will significantly reduce travel time on roads and ensure rider’s safety in the long run.

Nitin Gadkari Called in a Meeting with State Officers to Speed Up Government Expressway Projects

In a meeting chaired by Road Transport & Highway Minister Gadkari last month, it was revealed that authorities are working on a mega ‘1.32 crores’ project connecting Delhi to Jaipur (via Pataudi) and Amritsar (via Jind in Haryana) and Mumbai to Vadodara. Authorities have high hopes for Delhi-Amritsar-Katra expressway since it’ll sculpt down the massive distance to 572 kms.

They’re planning to invest Rs. 60,000 crores in Amritsar-Delhi expressway. With the successful completion of this project, travelers can easily travel between the cities in just 3 hours.

Also on the anvil is Jalandhar-Ajmer expressway project that will shrink travel timing to 5 hours.

How These Projects Can Significantly Affect Growth of Rajasthan & Other Neighbouring States

Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje announced 2 new highway projects for Chaksu-Phalodi and Nagaur-Pilani last year. They would connect rural regions of Rajasthan to Delhi. Also, Punjab government laid the foundation of a mega NH project worth Rs. 10,596 crores. They’re constructing 12 four-lane national highways in key regions like Samrala, Ropar, Jalandhar, Barnala, Hoshiarpur, Phagwara, Kharar, Kurali, Ludhiana and Chandigarh.

Talking in terms of tourism, these projects are quite important for Rajasthan and Punjab. Aside from connecting Rajasthan, Punjab, Delhi, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh in a close-knit network, these projects will promote interstate relations and provide world-class road connectivity to product suppliers, investors, travellers, daily commuters and NRIs. Moreover, things will smoothen between rural regions and state capital, which is important for the development of villages in Rajasthan and Punjab.

BJP leaders are already excited about the project. Meetings in this regard have been scheduled with CMs of respective states. Successful completion of the projects will set a new landmark concerning interstate connectivity in India.
