As to bolster the enhanced street surveillance project, the Jaipur police will soon be equipped with body-worn cameras and install them on dashboards of all PCR (Police Control Room) vehicles.

City police commissioner Sanjay Agarwal said that cameras would help the police gather primary information from a criminal zone. This will further aid to curb allegations of police misconduct.

Agarwal said, “Places like Nodia, Gurgaon and Ghaziabad have already introduced such measures. These cameras will increase transparency and record how traffic policemen deal with violators. Incidents of police misbehaving with motorists will come to our notice directly.”

Cameras will be stationed on uniforms of police. The peculiarity of the camera lies in the fact that it will not only record videos but also capture still images of the incident.

Rajasthan Government has been undertaking various steps to ensure safety and life-security of people on any given road in the city.

Quite recently , Udaipur had reportedly become the first in the country to have an all-woman police patrol wing. The patrol team was flagged off by chief minister Vasundhara Raje from Fateh Sagar Lake side.

Smart lady cops who were dressed in crisp blue uniforms, helmets and carrying pistols, went on patrol duty around the city on modified bikes, equipped with beacons, search lights and first aid boxes.

The lady patrol team idea was borrowed from Italy and China. In these countries,  all-woman Road-management officers have successfully  revamped the image of conventional policing.
