Smart City Jaipur

The Jaipur Smart City Limited (JSCL) is going to prepare the detailed project report (DPR) for the 2.3 km long subway beneath the Walled City area. The proposed subway infrastructure is going to establish a connection between Sanganeri Gate and Jorawar Singh Gate of the city.

In a bid to mitigate the traffic congestion in the city, the authorities are coming up with various projects and strategies. Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation (JMRC) has already prepared the pre-feasibility report and now JSCL is going to incorporate the same under smart city mission.

JMC had already appointed a private consultant agency to prepare the pre-feasibility report in November 2016. The subway is going to be laid down, 17 meters beneath the ground. The starting point will be located near the Ramniwas Bagh parking, whereas the exit point will be situated near Jal Mahal. The subway will run on a two-way tunnel.

Apart from the proposed subway project, JSCL is involved in many such projects that are aimed towards building a smart city. In total, 15 proposals were discussed in the 7th board meeting including facade improvement and pathway construction along the boundaries of Talkotara Lake.

Other similar projects under the smart city mission include renovation of the cycle velodrome at SMS stadium and construction of world-class amenities at the Chaugan Stadium in the form of an all-weather swimming pool and an ultra-modern synthetic running track.

Evidently, the authorities are actively working on the smart city project. Launched in 2015, the government’s Smart City mission encompasses 109 cities which are being developed with efficient infrastructure, improved quality of life, and better economy.
