Indian government concerned over border security at Indo-Pak boundaries.

Amidst heightened Indo-Pak tension at the borders, Lieutenant General visited border regions of Rajasthan to inspect border security. Pak’s cowardly attacks on Indian military posts have resulted in loss of several lives in our country. Seeing the escalating death rates in Rajasthan and J&K, the Centre had decided to seal borders to solve this problem once and for all. State authorities have already started working in this direction. Consequently, LG (Lieutenant General) Suresh Sharma took stock of road work at the border.

LG Suresh Sharma On the Mission to Ensure Border Security

Rajasthan government had announced developmental projects on road construction and safe drinking water for people living in border regions, a while back. In this regard, LG Suresh Sharma visited desert sectors of Jaisalmer, Barmer, Jodhpur and neighbouring regions to review the progress of road construction. This infrastructure project is being executed by BRO (Border Roads Organization). The project ‘Chetak’ is currently in progress.

Earlier, Sharma had visited 45 BRTF (Border Roads Task Force) headquarters in Jodhpur and western Rajasthan, from 5 to 7 December.

Defence PRO Manish Ojha shed light on DG’s plans. According to Sharma, the main purpose of this visit was to ensure smooth operations in swiftest time possible. DG reviewed the roads and met local commanders to ensure their wellbeing. All in all, he appreciated the speed with which, BRO is working on the said project.

Ojha further informed the media of BRO’s road map. As of now 45 BRTFs located in and around Jodhpur since 1976 were called upon for this project. They’re engaged in construction and maintenance of road connectivity in remote areas. This project has opened up new employment opportunities for local labours. It’s like killing two birds with a single stone– strengthening security and solving unemployment issues.

Addressing the BRO personnel associated with the task, Sharma urged them to show their utmost dedication. Border connectivity is of essential for socio-economic development of the state. He directed the GREF (General Reserve Engineering Force) to maintain the standards of high-traffic roads. Since high quality and productivity are key to success, Sharma expected the staff to follow these values in their everyday life.

If all goes well, the state will enjoy heightened security in the coming days.
