GST Bill in the Rajasthan Assembly Monsoon session

The Government of Rajasthan has started the monsoon session on Thursday September 1, 2016 in the Assembly so that the GST or Goods and Service Tax Bill could be ratified by the state but the opposition has some other plans. Their motive is to hamper the proceedings of the Assembly and thus have tried to corner the Government with issues such as bovine deaths in Hingonia, atrocities against Dalits, land acquisition case of ex-royals of Jaipur, etc. The leaders of opposition (Congress) seem vigorous during the first day of monsoon session. As a result, the Rajasthan Assembly speaker Kailash Meghwal adjourned the House for a day. The opposition just wanted to hamper the proceedings with baseless allegations on the state Government.

It is said that the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) only wanted to ratify the GST Bill and thus planned a short one day business.

The GST bill was cleared last month by the Parliament. The house started with the condolence message for the political leaders who died recently and then was adjourned within 18 minutes because of the vigorous behavior of the opposition lead by Congress. The session was short and right after the condolences; the leader of opposition Rameshwar Dudi demanded a CBI probe on the cow deaths in Hingonia rehabilitation center at Jaipur. He said, ““There should be assembly debates on issues such as corruption, atrocities on Dalits and cow death.”

Other than Hingonia, they also supported and pitched high on the land acquisition issue between Jaipur Development Authority and Jaipur’s Ex-Royals. It is to be noted that BJP MLA and Ex-royal family member Diya Kumari was not present in the house on day 1. Many leaders from opposition spilled wrong things about the government and the Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje which was not said with the motive of public welfare.

It was a special session announced to ratify the bill but opposition was not interested in ratifying the bill rather they alleged Government with wrong allegations. While the opposition had put in complete efforts to delay the ratification of GST Bill, the Chief Minister of Rajasthan Smt. Vasundhara Raje was doing her constructive politics and planning for the growth of Rajasthan. In this direction, she met United States Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) delegation headed by Ms. Liokedia Ijek. This meeting was organized to discuss the blueprint of converting Ajmer city into a smart city as Rajasthan Government signed a MOU with USTDA to provide technical assistance for the cause.

Also, CM met a delegation from Rajsamand Marble Mines Owners Association, Federation of Mining Association of Rajasthan and Environmental Developmental Institute under the leadership of Public Health Engineering Minister Kiran Maheshwari. They congratulated CM for her hard efforts made towards conserving environment during the mining activity. The meeting was also attended by MP Ramkumar Verma.
