In Rajasthan, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavat will not be released. This decision is taken due to the continuous opposition by the Rajput groups. The Rajput community is not happy with the film since the time of its making. Rajasthan has a huge population of Rajputs which is a dominant vote bank. BJP government’s doesn’t want to take any chance in the bypolls to be held on January 29.

In fact, the communities of Rajput have united under Lotwara to oppose the film and stance at the Centre. There are doubts of massive violence if the movie gets released in the state on 25 January.

In a interview with reputed newspaper,” Giriraj Singh Lotwara, president of the Shri Rajput Sena said, “We are upset with the BJP government for allowing the movie to release elsewhere in India and CBFC disregarding the view of Arvind Singh Mewar, the direct descendent of the Mewar royal family of Rani Padmavati, who strongly opposed the movie’s release when invited as part of a special committee to see the movie.”

The name of Padmavat was earlier Padmavati. It was due to protest and violence against the movie, the name has been changed. There was lot of struggles faced by filmmakers before the release of the film. In fact, movie will be releasing on 25 January with 300 cuts.
