Rajasthan becomes the second state after Karnataka to launch a web portal for farmers to claim crop loss under Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana. This web portal will enable farmers to register online for crop insurance scheme, individually. Earlier, the insurance claims were made in groups which were not enough for each farmer separately.

According to agricultural minister Prabhu Lal Saini, who launched the web portal, this initiative will bring a revolutionary change in terms of the delivery of the benefits to the right beneficiary. Before the launch of this portal, farmers were dependent on the administration to get themselves register and for giving information. There was no transparency in the system which further delayed the transaction process.

With the introduction of this web portal, the dependency on the administrative response will end and the farmers will be able to register their crop losses on their own without any delay. This will take lesser time to credit payments to the beneficiaries. The level of transparency will enable the farmers to monitor and track the entire process, from registration to disbursements. The web portal will generate a unique number for each farmer to keep track of their farming activities to ensure the crop against loss or damage. This will leave no scope of corruption at any level. As the system is linked to the  Aadhaar Card and Bhamashah Card databases of farmers, they will get direct payment into their bank accounts. The farmers will be informed about the transaction status through SMS, which will also be uploaded on the dedicated portal for further clarity.

Officials from the department will collect samples from the affected field as soon as the farmer registers the crop damage. The claims are said to be settled within 15 days after the sampling is done.

Rajasthan Government is also gearing up for the Global Rajasthan Agritech Meet (GRAM) 2016 which also caters to the agricultural community of Rajasthan. GRAM 2016 will be held from 9th -11th November this year.
