Rajasthan has bagged the second position after Andra Pradesh topped the is ranking chart in the country in Energy Efficiency Implementation Readiness, as per the World Bank report.

Achieving an overall score of 42.01, the state is the best in Energy Efficiency followed by Rajasthan (41.89), Karnataka (39.34) and Maharashtra (39.29), according to the State Energy Conservation Mission. Kerala, Gujarat, NCT Delhi, Punjab, Odisha and Uttar Pradesh are the other states in the top ten ranking in the same order.

This year, Rajasthan has topped the list of Agri Index of the country by implementing the maximum number of Agriculture related reforms and is also among the top ten state for Ease of Doing Business (EoDB).

The ranks were released in Delhi by World Bank executive director Subhash Chandra Garg during an ongoing international conference on Advancing the Global Transition to Energy Efficiency as the ‘First Fuel’ with Demand Side Energy Efficiency (DSEE). The conference was organised by the World Bank and Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL)- India.

Under the leadership of CM Vasundhara Raje, Rajasthan is number two in Energy Efficiency.  The World Bank feels that the political will, visionary leadership and result- oriented approach of the State Administration are the key elements behind a state’s development.

The WB is impressed with the rate at which Rajasthan is showing development in various sectors. By replacing 5 Lakh streetlights with LED bulbs in two of its busiest city, Rajasthan became the first state to implement Central government’s SLNP (Street Lighting National Programme) in major urban areas. This step alone managed to save Rs. 60 lakh per day and 152 million units on the whole.

Moreover, Raje’s various schemes to improve the condition of electricity supply also decreased the frequency of power thefts in rural areas. The state also implemented many schemes introduced by the centre, like Deendayal Upadhyay Jyoti Yojana, IDPS and Uday Yojana.
