In a bid to detect money laundering through tax evasions, Rajasthan government has announced a new scheme for government servants and informers. If a common man reports tax evasion in Rajasthan, he will get up to 8% of the undisputed revenue. For the government servants, the reward value has been fixed at Rs 50,000. This reward will be applicable on legit information submitted to the I-T department. The informer will get the reward amount only if the evasion couldn’t have been detected without his help.
Sounds too good to be true, isn’t it? Never mind, the cash prize comes with underlying terms and conditions. The tax evasion value must be over Rs 2 lakh or more. Merely providing solid information without any proofs will fetch the informer with up to 8% of the revenue. Nevertheless, if you provide real-time leads and valid documents, you will get up to 12% of the undisputed revenue.
The drive will cover all sorts of cases except those that involve confiscation of beer, alcohol or narcotics. Such cases will fall under the jurisdiction of IMFL (Indian Made Foreign Liquor) under Mukhbir Protsahan Yojana.
Why the I-T Department will Involve the Government Servants in this Scheme?
The main objective behind involving government servants in this drive was to present them with an opportunity where they can prove themselves. The initiative will encourage them to show their exceptional zeal and hardworking nature. All government officers, except those that are employed under the SDRI (State Directorate of Revenue Intelligence) will be eligible for this scheme.
The benefits extend to exceptional cases too—when the SDRI passes the special case on to some government agency for further investigation that results in revenue of over Rs 1 crore.

SDRI officers won’t be left out of this task. The government will reward dexterous SDRI officers who make significant contribution to surveillance and collection of evidences in a case. If the SDRI is satisfied with the contributions made by government servants who aren’t directly involved with the case, it’ll reward them for their efforts.
