Swine flu and other viral diseases like common cold are taking a toll on the state dwellers. It has become a common disease in the state. To mitigate this issue, the government is taking proactive steps on an expeditious basis.

The state government has decided to give buttress major research in virus by setting up state-of-the-art viral diagnostic and research laboratory (VDRL). These research centers will be set up in six medical colleges of the state.

The state recognizes the need to open specialized research centers across the state to make research about virals. Viral diseases like swine flu have been rising at a high pace.

Kalicharan Saraf, State Health Minister spelled out his conviction on this matter, while addressing the state assembly in current budget session.

The State Health Department is on a constant watch and is closely monitoring the menacing situation. The Health Department is doing every bit possible to plummet the health woes of viral diseases.

The state government plans to set up viral research and diagnostic labs in six government medical colleges. These colleges are located across the state in cities and districts like Jhalawar, Udaipur, Jaipur, Bikaner, Jodhpur and Kota.

This initiative will help in diagnosis of viral diseases on an expeditious basis. Timely diagnosis will help in timely treatment of patients. It will ameliorate the health status of the state and also ensure that people are treated on time.

As of now, the health department sends swab samples to the National Institute of Virology (NIV) for more detailed testing of swab samples.

The health department is striving hard to find if the disease has any mutation. In earlier days, the department had sent swab samples to find out if swine flu virus has any mutation.

Facilities in the health sector will be reinforced by setting up 6 viral research and diagnostic labs in medical colleges.
