Today on the Tuberculosis Day, a good news for all TB patients broke out. A very innovative system involving automated monitoring of patients has been launched by TB officers.

The Jaipur Health department launched a very useful system which will monitor the patient and update him if he has not taken his medicine.

For all those persons, living with HIV and tuberculosis, this system will prove to be excessively helpful for them.

“If a patient forgets to take the pill, we will get the information through the system,” Dr Dilip Kumar Kala, state tuberculosis (TB) officer said.

It was observed that many patients forgot to take pills for TB, Dr Kala said, “ When patients forget to take their medicines timely, it has a bad impact on their health.”

Through this system an instant update is received when patients do not consume medicines.

In Jaipur , a total of 21 patients living with HIV and affected with TB. They are taking the medicine under this system.

The new system is introduced under the 99 DOTS (Directly Observed Treatment, Short-Course) scheme. A very innovative system has been curated in this regard.

After consuming the medicine, the patient must give a missed call. Every patient has to give a missed call on a number which is mentioned on the strip of each tablet.

As soon as the missed call is received, the systems registers that medicine in the record of that corresponding patient.

In case, he does not get missed call, the system recognizes that medicine has not been taken by the patient. The system then informs the patient to take the medicine, so that medication process of patients run smoothly.

Impressively, 40 patients from various districts of Rajasthan including Karauli, Dausa, Tonk, Sawai Madhopur and Jaipur have started using this system for better and automated monitoring. An intelligent step, indeed!
